I try to tell a story with my poems, creating a visual or experience of the emotions and sensations with prose like poetry. Ellen Bass is one of my favorite prose poets. Each poem tells a story in The Human Line.
Mostly the lines don't rhyme in the poems I write. Often I read the poem over and over out loud to focus on the sound of the words and the flow of the lines. One of the really great things about being in poetry anthologies is that I read what a diversity of poets like to write and see lots of different styles.
My most recent anthology is World Healing, World Peace through Inner Child Press featuring many of my fellow poets in The Year of The Poet Poetry Posse, including, Jamie Bond, Gail Weston Shazor, Albert ‘Infinite’ Carrasco, Siddartha Beth Pierce, Janet P. Caldwell, June ‘Bugg’ Barefield, Debbie M. Allen, Tony Henninger, Joe DaVerbal Minddancer, Robert Gibbons, Neetu Wali, Shareef Abdur – Rasheed, William S. Peters Sr, Terri L. Johnson, Teresa E. Gallion, Robert Gibson, Alicia C. Cooper, Hülya N. Yilmaz, Fahredin Shehu, Martina Reisz Newberry, Justin Blackburn, and Monte Smith.
