Kimberly Burnham here. I have a PhD in Integrative medicine and my own vision and migraine recovery story. I
recently got this email from a client diagnosed with M.S.. I have been working
with her weekly (one hour) for eight weeks.
"This past week I did my best to enjoy the colors! And I did! Now I want more...haha just hoping maybe you can explain other colors and visualizations that will work with them as well. The color work seems to calm me down but not relax me (which I don't really need as fatigue is always lurking around) yet the visualizations seem to make my thoughts clearer, keep my focus longer, provide little goals for that session with big goals in mind, and make me more aware of my body. As you can read, these are all positive things thanks to you, so I would like to focus on them more and am all ears if you have any other additional information, ideas, and/or exercises in mind."
The first week we created a document with ten goals. Each week we talk about things that she can do herself (self-care and exercises) and with friends and family to help her feel and function better.
For example one of her goals was: Decrease Light and Noise Sensitivity re : Concert Venue / Sensory Overload.
Here are some of the notes and ideas I shared with her.
Blinking Exercise: included in this YouTube Video
Eye and Ears Coordination Exercises
Getting your eyes and ears to coordinate
Looking at the horizon or horizontal lines.
Also works well for motion sickness which is a lack of coordination between what the eyes are seeing and the sense of balance in the ears is feeling.
Helps with nausea and muscle spasm
Radio Exercise: Turning down the volume on radio or TV till can't hear and then turn up one notch.
Eliminating Nausea Point from Traditional Chinese Medicine
Near wrist center on palm side Acupuncture Pericardium 6
Press as need or when you think of it
Weekly Phone or Skype Sessions
In our weekly phone sessions we talk about exercises from alternative medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Energy medicine as well as reflex points, breathing exercises, color therapy, and nutrition helping her to achieve her goals including less spasms, more energy, better speech, improved memory and more.
