A Hebrew School teacher, Mindy Sandler also teaches b'nai mitzvah students in Spokane, Washington, where she lives with her silviculturalist husband and five busy children between the ages of seven and seventeen. Before starting a family, she worked as a wilderness ranger and interpretive naturalist in the national forests of the Pacific Northwest. Later, she taught English to international students, including fifteen months abroad in Slovenia. She still likes to take long walks, though now primarily in the city, often accomplishing errands or appointments on foot. Locals recognize her as "the lady who walks everywhere." Her formal studies include a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Amherst College, a Master of Science degree in Zoology from Oregon State University and a Master of Arts degree in English from the University of Idaho. Her current passion is reading Torah and haftarah and inspiring others to do the same.
